Pre Payroll

Would anyone have any idea why pre payroll would have different calculations when run on the server vs. locally?

Payroll is currently being run locally and I am attempting to have the process migrated to the server.

I have installed Vertex on the server and have mapped B0000182, B0700058, B7300002, B730004, B7300012, R07200 and X00TAX to run on the server.

The pre-tax deductions are not being deducted from the gross amount which in turn does not give the correct taxable income.

Any suggestions would be apprecaited.

Thanks,
Bill

Gee, I though this issue was gone in Xe.

Make sure that you have the latest ESU's that include R07200 and B0700058.
Wat version of Vertex are you running 2.4.2 or 2.4.4? Are you using an ISAM
database?

Search the knowledge garden under 'knowledge' for Vertex. There are a few
documents that can help in some of the troubleshooting.

In your troubleshooting you will need to generate the Vertex before and
after report. OneWorld sends all info to Vertex and then Vertex does the
calculation and sends it back. This report will tell you whether it's a JDE
issue or a Vertex issue (it's always a JDE issue). Make sure you run payroll
locally and then on the server to compare these reports. This will allow you
(or JDE) to identify the BSFN that is failing.

NOTE: BSFN's do not run the same way on the server and client.

Just for fun, use SAW and just before you run payroll on the server turn on
logging. Once the payroll is complete turn off logging. Get the Vertex
report for this also. Compare the 3 reports (server, client and server with
logging). Let us know what you find.

In B7333 we don't have this issue, nor do we have to map those functions locally. I would suggest checking the vertex documentation and maybe calling Vertex to verify that it is setup correctly. You will get quicker answers out of them. Then call JDE to argue with them about it.
Also, Colin has a good point about ESUs, there are numerous fixes in the payroll ESUs regarding tax calcs that I had to put on.
Good luck.

Thanks for the response Colin.

We are running Vertex 2.4.4 with an ISAM database.
You mentioned about generating the Vertex before and after report. How would I go about doing this?

Thanks,
Bill

Right click the payroll workbench, select prompt for values, on the Interim tab option 3 change to a 'Y'.

Follow Jeremy's directions........it's that simple.

Also makes sure of one thing: DO NOT use a hidden share for ANY OneWorld
share including the Vertex share..

When you run it LOCAL make sure ALL BSFN's and UBE's are set to run local. I
would create a new user ID and ensure that this is the case. I would also
create another userid for the server with the UBE's and Payroll BSFN's
mapped to run there. In the past I've called these userid's PAYLOCAL and
PAYSERVER.....pretty hard to confuse those.

You'll want to run the 3 tests that I described earlier. By comparing the 3
Vertex before and after reports you'll be able to figure out if it's a
Vertes or OneWorld issue and if it's a OneWorld issue it should pinpoint the
BSFN.

I'll check my notes to see what BSFN's caused me grief the last time.

Have you installed the latest ESU's for this? JDE knows this area really
well and have put a lot of effort into the HR/Payroll solution lately. If
you don't have the latest ESU then this could be your issue.
