Third Party Outbound Fulfillment Solution
We are investigating the possibility of implementing a third party bolt on to JDE to meet our business requirements for shipping. Our needs include: wave planning, divert assignment, interface with sortation system (Fortna), VICs compliant shipping documents, UCC128 compliant shipping labels, outbound EDI, and pick/pack/ship. We are currently on OneWorld Xe run on HP9000 in a CNC terminal server environment.
Does anyone have any recommmendations for potential software solutions? Does anyone have any experience with this type of installation?
We are currently evaluating PkMS among others. Has anyone attempted to interface PkMS with JDE? Would like to learn from your experiences to determine if this is feasible or not.
Thanks in advance for any input you have.

I have implemented an interface with Manugistics that has a great product on
the HP9000. They also have the EDI stuff that you would need... I think I
also have an email contact for them if you are interested... thanks, Bobby

We are currently running PKMS with B7332, PKMS Handles everything once the
order is entered in JDEdewards. We run our enter warehouse from PKMS. WE use
DSI's DCLInk to interface PKMS and JDE.
Using the DSI Piece we were able to interface the two systems in a very very
short time frame.
we do Waving, all Documentation including UCC labels , Outbound EDI (ASN'S)
and Pick/Pack/Ship. and with in the last 3 weeks we have interfaced PKMS
with UPS directly. So PKMS creates the UPS labels, All documentation for
UPS, and creates the PLD file to send to ups. As far as the interface to
Fortna, that I do not know. you can ask PKMS, or just write your own
interface.

Doug,

There are a lot of options out there depending upon the locations in which you're implementing and the details of what exactly you need.

Some of the vendors that I've talked to in the past:

Kewill e-commerce - We use this system in the U.S. for our carrier interface and label printing. They can also print export documentation and have EDI capabilities. I don't know about some of the other things you're looking for but it might be worth looking into. www.kewill.com

Varsity Logistics - similar package to Kewill when I had done research a while back but I haven't seen their product in a few years. www.varsitylogistics.com

Vastera - If you need export compliance checks this seems to be the best software out there. We will be implementing this for our European JDE systems but also for export compliance only in the US. They also can interface with carriers and print export documents but their strongpoint is export compliance. www.vastera.com

Precision - Also has export compliance but not as strong as Vastera. But there export documentation and carrier interfaces are stronger than Vastera. If you need export compliance but documentation, EDI, and carrier interfaces are more important than Precision may be the way to go. www.precision.com

These are just a few of the many companies that offer this type of functionality and might give you a good start. If you would like more details just let me know.

Good luck!

A solution that might be worth taking a look at is from Highjump Software. I have seen and worked with the solution a number of times, and know that it is very flexible and capable of handling the items that you listed. In your search take a look at Highjump. They are a very progressive company and are easy to work with.
