automated testing

We are looking to streamline our "testing" process and interested in an automated regression testing tool for JDE upgrades etc. If you are using anything like the JDE Autopilot and don't mind sharing your insights I would appreciate it. Apparently Autopilot does not auto record scripts and you need to learn yet another scripting language to use it. We need this tool to be very user friendly and easy to use.
Thanks for your input.

You really should take a look at RapidFIRE! automated testing solution (www.theiconsortium.com/solutions.html). It has been sculpted for JD Edwards, but it is completely application independent. You can automate an integrated test straight through multiple apps (great for best of breed or interface heavy implementations).
It has built in workflow with email and instant messaging that can expand the test evironment past your network to test XML messaging and EAI.
As for your note on the record function - not the best choice - most high dollar testing tools will record and translate your actions into program language, usually VBscript or Javascript. Then if you want to add logic or modify the script, you need to browse through the gibberish (and who wants to re-record their script every time the app is changed in the slightest?). Another big problem is that they use time based functions, rather than event controls - the time based raises the issue of failure if the production network is slower than when the script was written. Terrible for organizations that scrutinize test, such as FDA regulated companies. RapidFIRE! is event based, and it has translated the scripting language into almost plain english, so editing is a breeze (about 2 hrs. to learn). The best this about it is that the enterprise licensing can be deployed to the web, so the users can execute a test script from their browsers on your intranet or even the internet! The whole thing is set up with web security, single html documents, so they can be dropped right into a content manager, or (dare I say it) linked directly from JD Edwards.

Sorry for the blatent endorsement - but it really is just that slick...
