Win2K as Database Server on Oracle 8.1.7.3.0 Should I change?

Hi,
I have inherited a site running Oracle 8.1.7.3.0 on a Win2K Server, with four Win2K Logic Servers (Enterprise Servers) and citrix as the clients.

We are currently recruiting a new Oracle DBA and all of them stress that it is not a smart move to have Oracle running on Win2K and we should move to Unix or other.

Can anyone offer any comments to this?

We have around 400-500 users and around 700-1000 oracle connections.

Any commets would be apreciated.

Personally, I can't see anything wrong with this: O7 really was somewhat
faster on UNIX, but with O8/O9 I was unable to see any performance
difference despite running all sorts of benchmarks every time I could.

I think, it's very much a religious question without a scientifically
justifiable answer.

As far as Oracle is concerned, I reckon there's no difference, but UNIX
might be a bit more stable and the expensive hardware you would normally use
for UNIX may perform better too (which may not be applicable in your case
with an 8-way 8GB Server).
