RE: Web client (HTML)

! It has already been announced by JDE that JAS is dead, HTML will be
the only client supported in the near future. !

I think there is a bit of confusion going on here:
As I understand it JAS (Java Application Server) is the JDE-software that
needs to be installed on a dedicated Server (NT, AIX, HP-UX, AS/400, etc)
to be able to generate OW application screens, using HTML or(!) JAVA.
After installing JAVA one can get HTML or JAVA login screens. They look
different.
Now, if JDE will discontinue JAVA clients, one will still need the JAS
software to get the HTML client.
To run a JDE-Java Application Server, to answer another question in this
thread, one needs IBM Websphere as a third party software. JAS depends on
Websphere.

And to pitch in my two centavos to the original question:
If you are happy with Citrix and have no compelling reason to go HTML I
would stay with Citrix. It´s much easier to set up and it´s much less
administrative (CNC) work. Andy gave o good explination on that.

Thanks, Gerd
