ERP 8.0 objects

We are migrating from Xe Update 3 to ERP 8.0 in the next week or so. I have two questions: 1. Are there any 'gotchas' that I need to be aware of (I have been looking at Breaking News daily) and 2. When we went from B7.3.3.2 to Xe we could not promote/transfer objects across releases. Is this still the case between Xe and ERP 8?
