Year End Update for 1099\'s W2\'s

Has anyone installed JDE's Year End Updates for 1099's & W2's. We need to this upgrade, but I have never performed a JDE upgrade before. Did JDE leave anything out of the workbook that we need to be aware of?

Any advice you can give me is greatly appreciated.

I tried calling JDE but was put on hold "forever".

Re: Year End Update for 1099\'s W2\'s

An important thing I found out was that if you applied last years 1099
update and *have not* applied a JDE cume tape since then, you can download
the updated objects from their web site and just copy the objects over into
JDFSRC/OBJ.

This is *much* quicker than going through the complete PTF process.

But if you have applied a cume since then, you need to apply this years
1099 update as a PTF.

Not sure if this is the same for W2's.

Re: Year End Update for 1099\'s W2\'s

I just did the W2 upgrade last week and I am in the midst of the 1099 upgrade now. It went pretty well. It was my first time also. Call me directly if you have a question. I will do my best to help.

RE: Year End Update for 1099\'s W2\'s

Dianna,
We have installed the 1099 ptf and W2 ptf to Test and Production. No
issues.
Because 1099 and W2 processes are so stand-alone, not impacting other
processes, we felt comfortable installing these ptfs directly to the
production environment right away.

We have customized a printer file, which resides in our custom object
library. Each year we get the newly-shipped version of the RPG program and
compile it to our custom printer file.

Read your PTF Install book and Upgrade Reference Guide in their entirety,
including appendixes before beginning, since this will be your first
install.
Questions? Call me.

RE: Year End Update for 1099\'s W2\'s

Done it a million (almost literally) times. Yes, I loaded this year's as
well. The process (according to the PTF Install Workbook) hasn't changed
for a long time. It will not take very long at all. Once it is complete,
be sure to go to G97PTF and Build New Files/Create New Files because I think
there are some new ones. Is there specific issues you are thinking of?? I
would be happy to help if I can. Contact me offline if needed.

only a couple of very minor white paper fixes that affect inquiry screens.
Other than that, it's straight forward.

You may download this from the Knowledge Garden. It includes very easy to
follow directions. You should have someone with AS400 command line knowledge
do it however.

Diana,

We have applied both but have not run either process yet. I do know that
there is a fix for W2's if you use a 4 part laser form. Check the knowledge
garden if applicable.

Hi Diana,

We just completed our upgrades for both and the workbooks do
include all the steps required to complete the process. If you have a
custom environment and have modified any of the programs that are sent on
the upgrade you will have to retrofit your custom changes into the new
source sent. There are a couple of issues particular to our setup that I
have to perform some additional steps.

The following list was sent from JDE on what changed in each
step of the process for both upgrades. It gives you the number of each type
of updates for the merges and updates. You can use it for a reality check
for reviewing all the reports produced by the upgrade. Work of advice save
all spooled output especially the joblogs.

If you have any questions post them and I will respond if I
can help.

Here is some information on what the year ends does
when you apply them. Let me know if you have any other questions or
concerns. Thanks!

Re: Year End Update for 1099\'s W2\'s

We just completed 1099/W2 installation and ran payroll rollover. Any questions
or concerns?

RE: Year End Update for 1099\'s W2\'s

I applied that upgrade over the new year's weekend. It is one of the
easiest and shortest upgrades to do. I did step 1 in during the work week
and step 2 took about an hour on new year's day. Good luck.

RE: Year End Update for 1099\'s W2\'s

Diana,

We did the updates and everything went well. We are at A81 cum3 and V4R4.

RE: Year End Update for 1099\'s W2\'s

I have a consultant on staff that has done this every year for the last 3
years. If you would like some help with it, please let me know.
