Year end change

Has anyone changed their year end from December to June ? If so what approach did you take?
As JDE takes its fiscal year from the last day of the first period we cannot just do a 6 month period from Jan - Jun then start a new year.
How easy would it be to just create new companies with a new date pattern and just take across all open items?
Anyone's thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Neil:

I had to do the same thing back in 1997. We were bought out by a new owner
and had to change the fiscal year from a calendar year to a year ending
9/30. It's a little vague now but I remember that JDEdwards wasn't much
help because of the fiscal year convention. It was a nightmare.
We quickly ruled out setting up additional companies because we had
thousands of AAI's to remap. We ended up setting up a new environment for
the second fiscal year 97. I had to have a consultant right some custom
programs to convert several files. The F0902 and F1202 were especially
painful. Now that we've changed, we can no longer use the JDEdwards repost
programs since the fiscal periods changed from the beginning of time.
In hindsight, I'm not sure setting up new company would have been any
easier.

Hope this helps.

Eric.

Yes we have done this. One of our companies had to change their fiscal
pattern from Jan = Dec to Apr - mar. It is not difficult in JDE. Oracle
Apps you have write lots and lots of code and have to get their consultants
come in.

1. In JDE you creat a new fiscal pattern other than 'R'. The first year of
change in our case was 15 months and in yours it will be 18.
2. You need to change the company master and feed in the new fiscal pattern
code against the company you are changing.
3. Run the repost.
4. You could even change for certain years.
5. We do lot of comparative analysis so we had to run back dated.
6. Since it is 18 months in your case, keep the last period for 6
months. I know i am not very clear if you require details then you could
e-mail me. Calling is expensive as i am in Kuwait.
