How do I lock down XJDE and ZJDE so that people can't make any deletions? I'm guessing I do it with Action Code Securtiy, but I'm not sure what files or programs I use to lock this down. Can someone please help me?

Change the (user exclusive option) in the additional parameter of each
version you want secured.

G94, #8 Report Version Security. The versions should all have a user ID of
DEMO, otherwise you have to run it multiple times, one for each ID. Do an F1 in
the Security Code field. I would use either a "1" or a "2". If you have
versions missing and you have JDFDATA on the system, you can just copy the
versions back from there.

Kenny, You can secure, "lock down", DREAM writer versions at menu G94 option
08, J98326. Very flexible security options.

Kenny;

Version security should do the trick. But I would have thought that was
already in place.
Do all these version belong to profile "JDE"?

To expand on my earlier answer to use menu G94 option 8 to secure DREAM
writer 'XJDE' and 'ZJDE' versions, since 'User' is part of the selection
criteria, and 'DEMO' is the creator of XJDE and ZJDE versions, have a 'DEMO'
AS/400 user profile available on the system for those times you need to
modify a 'ZJDE' or 'ZJDE' version. That way, these versions will continue
to show that they were modified by user 'DEMO'.

Are you talking about XJDE & ZJDE versions in Dream Writers? If so, the
User Exclusive parameter (additional parameters) field sets the security
for ANY version that is created. All of our XJDE & ZJDE versions have
User Exclusive set so the version can only be copied. The owner of those
versions is DEMO.

Hope this helps,
Teri Greene

Hi Kenny,

As fas as I know the Dreamwiter versions XJDE and ZJDE are usually secured
as follows under the DEMO user id:

User Excl (0/1/2/3/4) . . is usually set to "1" on the 98301 Additional Parameters screen

1 Medium security. Only the "Last Modified By" user can design, change
processing option values, change detail values, check in, check out, or
delete the version. Anyone can install, copy, transfer, or run the
version. This is how the JDE Demo versions are delivered.

We make copies of these to create our own versions and modify our copies as required.

Kenny

If you are refering to the dream writer versions that begin with ZJDE and
XJDE, they should have come shipped with a "User Exclusive" (security
setting) of 1. The user should be DEMO as well. This allows the normal user
to copy or run those versions but not be able to delete or change them.
Another way that the normal user can change the processing options on those
versions, is if the menu option allows them to use F18. By using F18, the
userid is not changed on that dream writer version as it would be if they
had changed it within the versions list.

Kenny,

If your talking about securing the DW version, you go into additional
parameters and change the value in User Exclusive to a 2 or a 3.

Kenny,

We used a custom progam to lock down the JDE Shipped versions. Please =
see if the attacjment can be of any help to you.
