Windows XP workstations

On Windows XP workstations, everytime we try to checkout or go into design
of any NER object, OneWorld hangs and we have to reboot it each time. Has
anyone encountered any similar issues with Windows XP?

Thanks.

SP 18.1 with E_1 fix

Deployment Server - NT 4.0

Turn off the system restore function...I struggled with that a few
months back for awhile until I stumbled across the solution.
For the exact steps in turning it off, look in the archives of the
list. Basically it is right click on my computer/properties/system
restore and turn it off.

I have this problem. I have turned off System restore but the problem still occurs now and then, typically when an application is started for the first time. I did discover that if you left it in its 'hung' state, it recovered after a period of time (longest 9 minutes so far), thereafter the application worked fine. I have this logged with GSS but they are having difficulties replicating the problem.

An added issue is we use Oracle 8i client that isn't approved for XP. Oracle 9i is, but the OneWorld driver does not exist until sp19.1!!!!

OneWorld Xe Update 2 -> 5

Are you running any type of On-Access virus scanner? (I have heard that a few of the XP compatible On-Access scanners appear to hang when pulling code across the network - checkOut activity).

System Restore (there are some newly documented hacks at support.microsoft.com - on how to 'really' shut it off, via registry).

Do let us know what you find out!

I should have McAfee running on my machine but this has not been installed yet. The number of pauses I am experiencing is going down, but I think this due to me executing more of applications at least once.

As I find out more, I will keep you posted.
