Websphere

We are in the process of installing websphere. We have made some mistakes and tried to uninstall, reinstall it but the information that we have added (Servlet Engine, Web Application, Virtual Host) does not go away. We are guessing that this information is kept in Oracle somewhere. Does anyone know where and how we get rid of the information we have already added?

Thanks in advance,
Melissa

I'm pretty sure its in the NT registry. Do a real thorough scan for
keywords like "Websphere'.

WebSphere keeps this type of info in a "database repository to store configuration Settings". Depending on how you configured WebSphere this database may be any one of DB2, Oracle or IMB's Instant DB.

If you messed up your WAS configuration on first try (a very easy thing to do) you should be able to just go into the WAS Admin Console, click on the Topology TAB and open up the tree under your application server (presumably AS_OneWorld_1). Make sure the server is not running (start/stop button should be green) and then right click on whatever you want to delete. Select remove on the drop down menu that appears and there you go.

Alternatively get your DBA to re-initialize the WAS database repository.

Good luck. You've begun what appears to be be an exciting adventure. I judge I'm about two inches ahead of where you are now.

Try Registry file.
go to RUN cmd
regedit.exe
delete unwanted entries.
Good luck

I set this up few months ago and got OW up and running...In this I was able
to delete the appserver and start from scratch...again...I did this few
times...to try various things...I had no problem...mine is HPUX Oracle
XE......

What error are you getting trying to delete...it?..

The information is stored in oracle tables...but do not try deleting them
from the database...Websphere is very sensitive abt the integrity..you may
end up reinstalling the sofware...

If you want to call me...send me your email address..

Thanks,
Mohan CK

Thanks for all of your suggestions. The configuration information for Websphere is actually kept in oracle tables owned by ejsadmin. We deleted all of the tables from this owner and were able to start over.

Thanks!

Hi Melissa,
you should be able to remove them from IBM Websphere admin console.
If not, you can check your oracle for 'ejsadmin' user. this user should be
the owner of the websphere repository and you should be able to delect them.
Make backup first
