WAS 6.1 - Citrix issue post upgrade

Hello List,

We have just recently upgraded from WAS 6.0 to WAS 6.1 and TR 8.96.x to 8.98.3.3. As per the IBM/Oracle performance and tuning tips for iseries (dated 2010) we have enabled compression. This worked fine on our previous configuration. This still works fine for our NON Citrix JAS users.

Our issue is that since upgrading WAS and Tools, the few users that we still have accessing JDE via Citrix are not able to download and open their PDF output with compression enabled.

This is what happens on Citrix. From submitted jobs the Citrix user selects to view the PDF. At that point we can see the next screen that would open the PDF but we can’t select on that dialogue screen because a 2nd Windows Internet Explorer screen opens immediately saying that Internet Explorer cannot download com.jas.ube from ouriseriesenterprieserver.ourdomain.com. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.

Please try again.

This message is on a UBE and not CSV and worked just fine for Citrix users with compression on our previous version of WAS and tools.

Would appreciate any ideas.

Thanks,

J. D. Edwards release is 8.11 SP1
Enterprise and Web servers are OS/400 V5R4
Tools release is 8.98.3.3
Citrix servers are Windows Server 2003, Citrix 4.5.1 with adobe reader 9.0.0

This SOUNS like a Windows 2003 server issue, rather than Citrix itself.

1. Try logging into the Terminal Server using RDP - do you get the exact same issue ?

2. Try logging in as a local administrator on the Citrix Server - oes it provide an ability to add the iseries to its trusted list ?

3. Try adding the iSeries FQD (Fully Qualified Domain) to the citrix hosts file (\windows\system32\drivers\etc)

4. Play around with the security settings, see if you can add the host as a "trusted" domain in your internet explorer.

I'm sure with some fiddling, you'll be able to add the server, and therefore ensure that you modify the users' trusted hosts in their profiles...

Also, do the usual IE registry setting changes on the Citrix Server (especially increasing the number of Asynchronous Connections to 10). That usually solves a LOT of issues !

Thanks again Jon. I'll be sure to let our server team know. Were just all thinking either the upgrade to WAS 6.1 or the TR upgrade to 8.98.3.3 'broke this' since we had no issues on the Citrix server with WAS 6.0 or the previous tools release 8.96i1_cpu. The issue only occurs with this logic in the *.conf file.
LoadModule deflate_module /QSYS.LIB/QHTTPSVR.LIB/QZSRCORE.SRVPGM
SetOutputFilter DEFLATE

When we remove the above logic (which disables the compression) users can open and view their PDF's on Citrix.
