Just a warning to anyone who has upgraded or plans to upgrade to SP 14.x.

DO NOT RUN P98SRV - Reset Software Protection Code - after upgrading to these service packs.
First look at SARs 4899922, 4848375 and call Response Line for advice.

Unfortunately we did need to run P98SRV twice - once during the upgrade (30 day temp license is all they would give us on the weekend) which was under SP13, and once after the upgrade under SP14.1.

We applied SP14.1 before getting our permanent license code from JDE and were then unable to successfully set the permanaent SPC/License code. Now we are unable to install any new clients on XE and the clock is running out on those that we installed under the temporary license.

Response Line's solution to our problem is to go back to SP 13. We've had some problems doing so ... this weekend should tell the tale whether that works for us or not.

Since JDE didn't see fit to warn clients via breaking news on this I though I would share the problem with our good friends on the list :)

Just to keep sharing the good news.
After we upgraded to SP14.2 (and applied all the 1-Offs) we can´t build
packages anymore because the busbuild.exe crashes with a Memory Violation
when is generating NER N1800201.

This is a known issue for JDE and they are supposed to fix it in SP15.

Looks like SP14.x are not that reliable. I was told that SP15 will be fully
regretion tested (Xe, B733.2 and B733.1). Let's hope they'll do it.

We are:
B733.2 SP14.2 (Tons of ESUs applied)
RS/6000+Oracle 8.0.5
NT 4-W95 & TSE Clients

Here's my update to our regress to SP13.
This is fact allowed us to correct the SPC Code.
We have elected to stay at SP13 due to SP 14.1 causing spec corruption and other problems reported in 14.2.

Larry,
At first, thanks for your warning.
Do you (or anybody other) know that is SP14 also effected or only SP14.x are? Maybe all post SP13 are effected?
I checked the mentioned SARs on the KG but I wasn't able to answer my question.
Unfortunately, we just installed SP14 at one of our clients.
Thanks the replies in advance,
Zoltán

Zoltan,

I believe the problem was in all post 13 SPs.
However, the problem only occurs if you actually change your SPC code.

Also a fix to the problem supposedly exists somewhere in JDE (although we were not able to obtain it).

If your client can avoid messing with the SPC codes they should be OK until SP15 comes out which should correct the problem.

I Believe it is fixed starting with SP14.2 SAR # 04845908
