W4101A Form

We are on One World XE. Has anyone on XE noticed that the W4101A form,
called from P4101(Item Master) is screwed up? Any solutions?

It looks fine to me. What's wrong with it?

Our form is okay here.

I am on 7332. Is screwed up there also. Try this: See if you have a P4101B
with a form D. Same data.

The form W4101A is jumbled up. If you wish I could send a word document
that demostrates. Please email privately.

Re: RE: W4101A Form

James,

Were you previously on B733/B733.1 before XE?
Had you used Vocabulary Overrides to change the prompts for Controls (Fields) under B733/B733.1?

if yes then this may be your problem. We are experiencing corruption in several apps under XE that had been modified by Vocabulary Override (P9220) under B733.1.

What happened in B733.1 was that the business function B9220A corrupted FDA specs by setting an invalid next Text ID value when inserting a new FDAText Override row. This is documented in SARs 3254903 and 3175383. I think the problem becomes exacerbated if you have used both P9220 and Form Design Aid to change the same form.
Unfortunately JDE neglected to communicate this as a breaking news item ... Response Line stated to me that this is an issue that affected only non-English customer's. However the code fix source code belies that statement.

At any rate we have a set of applications whose integrity following the XE spec merge is dubious. Our plan here is to delete the objects modified by P9220, copy replacements from pristine, and then reapply changes. I hope that this process will work for us under XE, it did not when we first encountered the problem under B733.1.

Cheers,

Hi Jim,
I have just received you screen shot.
It is really strange.
Here is my two cents:

1.) Delete the "glbltbl" .ddb and .xdb spec files (in b7/pathcode/spec folder) on your workstation and try again. (of course, log-off OW before you do it).

2.) If 1. didn't help then check out the P4101 application, open with FDA, make a dummy modification - making the save function available (e.g. open anything and press OK without changes), save the application and try again.

Please, let us know your results on the List/Forum. Thanks.

At last a question: what is your SP level and HW boxes?

Good luck,
Zoltán

Re: RE: W4101A Form

Excuse me, List. I wasn't able to stop me and do not reply.
Larry has written:
"Unfortunately JDE neglected to communicate this as a breaking news item ... Response Line stated to me that this is an issue that affected only non-English customer's."
Yes, again: "affected only non-English customer's".

I am a little bit surprised and it get me to think about it a little bit:
* Why is the name OneWorld and World of these products?
* Why is the logo icon is a Globe?
* Why is the lot of work days (monthes, years) spent with translations to so many languages in Tier 1, 2 and 3?
* Why are working so many people to maintain the software in many languages making possible to issue this software with many languages?
* Why are the lot of efforts in Localization issues?
* etc., etc., etc.

Please, do not missunderstand me, I like OneWorld but the mentioned phrase was a bit surprising for me (maybe, not only for me).

Re: RE: W4101A Form

Zoltan,

please excuse/ignore my comment re JDE Response Line. I meant to communicate that they did not pursue this issue vigorously when we first encountered it. In no way has JDE communicated to me/us that they consider non-English customers as second class. This was solely my gripe at JDE (The original/first SAR on this was reported by an Italian customer/consultant). To the best of my knowledge Response Line treats us all equally the same (Equally good or bad depending on experience level and competence of the person you work with).

and FYI my company is English only.

Once again, please do not read too much into my comment. I also like JDE and OneWorld very much.

Re: RE: W4101A Form

Larry & List,
Please excuse/ignore my comment too. Maybe I had a too sensible moment when I replied.
I do not suppose that JDE consider non-English customers as second class. I well know that they make a lot of efforts as in translations to other languages as in localizations.

At last again, as I have already mentioned, I like OneWorld.

This screen shot shows the same kind of corruption as I am seeing in our applications that were corrupted by Vovacbulary Overrides. See my attached sample of the Address Book form.

RE: RE: W4101A Form

Just as a follow up, we repaired the F4101A form by copying it from our
pristine environment. Thanks for all the input.
