Hi Folks,

Anyone out there implemented cluster resiliance solutions for OneWorld Xe
preferably with a match to following criteria:

- OneWorld Xe B7333
- Compaq hardware
- Oracle 8i Rel 3
- Windows 2000 (Advanced Server)
- Pharmaceutical (validation regulated environment!)

I'd be happy to hear feedback (good & bad) however from folk on above on
instllation issues, maintenance overhead, DR experiences using same.

Sean,

I have implemented 3 clusters so far.

1. HPUX/Oracle
2. NT/SQL
3. NT/Oracle (Dell computer)

None exactly matching what you are looking for.

The JDE part is easy. All you need to do is change a line in the server´s
ini file and edit a little script. The Enterprise Server name has to be
the Cluster name, not the individual server´s names. JDE´s manual
explains that quite well.
The main work is setting up the cluster itself.
There are two models:
1. active/inactive: one ES with JDE and database, second server in standby
2. active/active: one server JDE, second server database

We had some problems when setting up a model 2 cluster with JDE on one,
database on the other server. And each server would be the switched over
to the other one in case of failure. In that case, if the database-server
goes down, one has to take down JDE on the first server, switch over the
database, start the database and bring up JDE at last. The cluster
software does all that for if you set it up properly.

I have not heard about any major cluster related problems from my clients.
I do not maintain the instalations but I think it should not too much
overhead once installed.

Hope this helps, Gerd
