E9.2 Value date in manual payment

Hello,

I want to make a manual payment, to close a posting that is already paid with employee credit card. Current practice is to use today's date as payment date and same for value date. Is it necessary to fill in the value date field? I don't think it adds anything to the posting, since it's always the same as the payment date. Do you agree/disagree?
 
I think you can manually overwrite the Date when you run click 'Write' in 'Select payment group'. --Harry
