User Overrides

JDE List,

Is anyone out there having good success with UOs? We are having problems
both on FAT and Citrix clients. Problems go away when we delete them so it
appears as though UOs are our problem.

Any tips (we went "live" yesterday)?

We are experiencing the same issue. From discussion with JDE, the issue
is with SP16. There is a business function that is called to display
grid columns that doesn't work properly. There is a one-off SP16_019
that was just released. I did download it, but have not installed it
yet as I am waiting approval from my manager. The one-off consists of
three .dll files. My only concern is that (with JDE's history) they
fixed the one business function, and broke others. One of the .dll
files is jdekrnl, which is one the bigger ones..Once I install it, I
will let you know of the results.

James :

I've always had horror stories with User Overrides.
I couldn't find yet any solution to their random corruption; finally
decided to instruct my users not to use UO!

Sebastian

User Overrides have always been a problem and were supposed to be fixed in
SP16 (which you are on). You should try and restrict your install to useing
group or *Public overrides instead of every user creating user overrides.

Also, user overrides/preferences are not only stored in the database but
also on the workstation. Each time a user logs into OneWorld a registry key
is created in their name to store some of their window screen settings and
preferences. I suggest that you delete these. They should be in:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JDEdwards\OneWorld\Explorer]

You'll find that the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JDEdwards\OneWorld] Key has
a host of other configutration data that you can manipulate for busbuild,
Fda, RDA, TDA, UTB, etc.

Of course all this is for NT/2000 and not 95/98 so you may have to do some
digging.

James,

I had the same problems two weeks ago going live from B7332 to XE svc
pack 16. It appears that the user overrides did not translate well into
XE. JDE gave me the suggestion of deleting the user-overrides with no
explanation. I know this doesn't help, but sometimes sharing the pain
does. :)

Only problem is I am having User Override Problems with 16.1 as well. Ours
seems to be somehow related to Foreign Currency. When trying to do A
Foreign Currency Transaction, many of the Grid columns become squished or
hid. The only way to fix is to of course delete all the overrides for that
App, or go searching between columns. We just started working this with JDE
so I have no info from them yet.

There is a one-off for the user-overrides issue. It is SP16_019. The
issue is with show/hide columns (a business function) , and how it
interprets the overrides. The reason you get it more often with the
foreign currency is that depending on the status of the currency (say in
p4210) the program will show/hide columns based upon that setting.

We have had errors with user overrides. We had to delete them. I found a
paper from JDE Titled: "Potential Crashes with Grid Format User Overrides
with SP16 and later". Basically it said you need to be on Internet Explorer
5.0 SP1 or 5.5 to correct this issue. It also said they were working on a
long term solution. We are watching this to see if we get more of these
errors since I'm pretty sure we already are up to date with Internet
Explorer on our workstations...

Thanks. I did find that paper and tested the fix to no avail. We still had
the error with both versions of IExplorer.

Isn't that one_off for sp16? Is that one_off not cumulative for 16.1?
