Upgrading SQL standard to Sql Enterprise

Has anybody upgraded there Edwards box from the standard edition of sql to
the Enterprise edition of sql, how long did it take, can I install on top of
standard or do I have to uninstall standard and reinstall enterprise. what
happens to all the security settings.

any help will be appreciated.

Brian,

I've done that by :

a) Backuping all databases (don't forget master, msdb, model)
b) Uninstalling SQL Standard
c) Install SQL Enterprise on the same location
d) Restore master
e) Restore the other databases
