UCC/UPC in A7.3

Hi List,

We need to start entering UPC information. We are on A7.3 cume 8. I went
to the Knowledge Garden and noticed a document titled "UCC 128 Compliance",
however it says it is for release A8.1. Does anybody on a prior version use
and enter UPC information into JDE? If so how? Any advise is GREATLY
appreciated.

Thank you.

Kristin,

If you are referring to UCC 128 compliance for ASN, then the answer is no,
no release prior to A8.1 handles ASN. I'm not sure what other use there may
be for UCC 128 but that is the information I have to date.

We use the UPC code number as an alternate key (AITM) to our items so we
can scan the UPC barcode in the warehouse to identify an item. The UCC128
labelling and ASNs are a different matter entirely and are NOT available in
7.3. It is a fairly complex module to try and incorporate into JDE 7.3 by
yourself since you need to group on a box or container level and that
functionality is not currently in JDE. Since we could not justify an
upgrade to 8.1 just for this purpose, we wrote a standalone PC based
system utilizing the download of the pick slip as input. Our PC system
then generates the labels, documents and ASNs which we then send back to
our EDI software for mapping to the customer. Not very elegant but it does
work.

Eileen,

That is exactly what we will be doing over the next two months. By the end
of Nov we have to have ASN up for a single customer so we have purchased a
PC based product called ReSKU from Keywill for pack verification that will
then pass information to Clippership for shipping and tracking numbers. We
currently feed the tracking numbers back into the customer orders as text
but we don't have anywhere to put the ASN information so it will go into a
file for our EDI group to pick up and send out to the customer. It seems
such a waste that all that work and information will be lost.

How are you communicating the Pick Slip information from JDE to your PC
based program, is it ODBC, file transfer, or FTP? On the information coming
from the PC to the AS/400, is that once at the end of the day or are you
doing that multiple times?

Thanks
