UBE\'s not running on server

UBE's not running on the server - UPDATED...

Initially, we reported having a problem running new UBE's transferred from
CRP in to PROD on our enterprise server. This last Saturday afternoon the
problem escalated so that we can no longer run ANY ube's including Posting
jobs to our enterprise server. JDE is recommending simulating a full server
package build by TAMFTP'ing all specs from a client to the enterprise
server! (Of course using a separate procedure for the dddict and dtext
files).

Has anyone ever done this with B7322? So far, I haven't been able to
successfully run the tamftp because I'm getting an unable to create
directory error. I've already created that the new spec directory on the
400 so I don't know what the problem is!

Any ideas, comments, helpful hints, words of wisdom, etc?

Re: UBE\'s not running on server

Toni,

I take it all your UBE's are ending in an Error status when you submit them
on the server? We get this on our AS/400 from time to time, due to the
RDASPEC file being corrupted. You can find this for sure by turning on UBE
debugging and submitting a UBE, then search the log for "error" or "cannot
read". I take it you have the latest full package you built after you
transferred all your objects to PROD? If so, you can try to re-deploy that
full package to the AS/400. This is how we refresh the RDASPEC file here.

Hope this helps!

Re: UBE\'s not running on server

Toni,

I already did it twice.

Take a look at the document ID oti-99-0023 on the Knowledge Garden.

RE: UBE\'s not running on server

Toni,

I've followed the instructions in document oti-99-0066 "AS400 Manual TAMFTP"
at least half a dozen times with no problems.

However, I have never done the part where you run R98TAM UBE to update the
dd.

Also, I drag and drop using Microsoft Explorer instead of using delete, copy
or move commands. I also rename specfile to specfileold, then create
specfilenew. I then take the dd objects from specfileold, move them to
specfilenew and then rename specfilenew to specfile.

Hope you followed that okay!

Good luck!

Re: UBE\'s not running on server

Tony

After running R98TAM UBE did you TAMFTP the dddict & ddtext files from your root OneWorld directory? If you TAMFTP'd these files from an environment directory from your client then you will overwrite the full dddict and ddtext files on your Enterprise Server. R98TAM puts complete dddict & ddtext files into C:\B7 (or whatever your client has designated for OneWorld). If you FTP'd the files in say C:\B7\PROD then there's a good chance that the vast majority of your Data Dictionary definitions on your Enterprise Server will have been overwritten resulting in most of your UBE's not running including vanilla JDE ones like G/L Post. If you think you have done this - check using the AS/400 command WRKLNK and check the files sizes of these files in PROD, CRP etc on the Enterprise Server and on your client - then simply run another TAMFTP making sure you send the files in C:\B7 not C:\b7\PROD. There is no need to run another R98TAM, unless of course you have created new data dictionary items in the meantime.

Hope this helps,

Jamie
