UBE Performance on iSeries

Hi List,

We have recognized the fact that if there are 2-3 (or more)UBE jobs appearing in the EO subsystem, in that case the entire iSeries system has a high workload. Informally we have an information about beginning with ERP8.9 the iSeries job queues cannot be used.

Any idea would be appreciated.

Zoltan, our experience is that we can run 3-5 UBE's per cpu on our 400. One of the keys is to set the timeslice to somewhat less than the default 10000ms. We have our batch jobs set to 2000ms so the ODBC connections get plenty of opportunities to get the CPU. We have also set ODBC connections with a timeslice or 1500ms.

As an aside, having busy CPU's is not necessarialy (sp?) a bad thing. On the enterprise class machines CPU's are expensive, you want them to be busy. JMHO.

Not true, but for the first time an option exists to not have to use them. However, as we all know, no one in their right mind with an iSeries wouldn't use the native iSeries queues.
