UBE constant text in multiple languages

I need to achieve the following:

Run one UBE , in this UBE print the report constant text in the language of
the Supplier (as set up in F0101).
The language is NOT one of the BSVW fields
The data selected for reporting can require that the report be
printed for multiple languages (i.e. multiple suppliers = multiple langauges)

I was hoping to be able to use vocabulary overrides to set up the constant text
per language for the UBE.
BUT I am looking for a way to access the VO per langauge.
If the user langauge preference is set to a particular language, and I run the
UBE, the correct langauge text is printed.
I need a way to change the langauge preference whilst running the UBE and force
OW to access the correct language text in the VO for this UBE.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks,

Dorothy,
Have you tried to use the "Set Language Preference" system function (General category) in an appropriate place in the logic of your UBE?

Zoltan,
I have tried "Set Language Preference" system function (General category) -
this does NOT appear to have any effect.

The BSFN B9800925 'update language preference in cache' does change the SL
(System level) language preference, but too late to effect which VO
is used in the report.
To make use of this BSFN I would need to do the following:
From a driver UBE set the SL (System level) language preference for each
language encountered (using BSFN B9800925 mentioned above)
Report interconnect to the actual report print, which will now print the
constant text variables in that language.

I was hoping to avoid this option, as I would then have to 'reselect' the
required selection - unless there is a way to pass the previously selected items
from the driver UBE ???

Dorothy,
My colleauge Gergely already used the "Set Language Preference" method for the same purpose with success under B7331.

Please, let me some further question:

1.) Where do you issue the "Set Language Preference" call (in which event of which section).
2.) In which section(s) do you want to print on alternate language?
3.) What is the relations between the sections (e.g. Conditional section called by DoCustomSection, etc.)
4.) Have you created a new version after the modification and tested your UBE with this new one?
5.) Have you run your UBE locally when you tested it?

Waiting for your answers,
Zoltán

Zoltan,

Answers to your questions are as follow:

1.) Where do you issue the "Set Language Preference" call (in which event of
which section).
I tried it in the init, advance and do sections. I set it to the literal
'DU' Dutch. I expected this to change the SL (system variable) Language
preference (I checked using the ER debugger) but it does not.

2.) In which section(s) do you want to print on alternate language?
I want to print alternate language in the do section.

3.) What is the relations between the sections (e.g. Conditional section called
by DoCustomSection, etc.)
At the moment I'm testing on a very basic test UBE, there are no
conditional sections.

4.) Have you created a new version after the modification and tested your UBE
with this new one?
Yes.

5.) Have you run your UBE locally when you tested it?
Yes the UBE is run locally.

Dorothy,
Execuse me if my next questions will be too basic.

1.) Have you entered DU language overrides for your UBE?
2.) Have you checked out again the "translated" UBE to the test workstation?

Waiting again,

Zoltan,
Thank you for your persistance - I see now where my problem was:

1.) Have you entered DU language overrides for your UBE?

A Dutch VO did exist for my UBE/version with Dutch text BUT these were the
Dutch DD descriptions.
The override (TEXTOVR) was 0.
When I physically changed the text, the TEXTOVR became 1 - and now it works
!!!

2.) Have you checked out again the "translated" UBE to the test workstation?

Regards,
Dorothy Booth
