List,

I have a question for you, if you load Office 2000 on the Terminal Server
does this affect the performance to OneWorld Xe? My client wants to put
Office 2000 Premium on the Terminal Server in order to save on putting it on
everybody's PCs. The question is does it affect the OneWorld performance
and what about printing?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich

This depends on how many users you have on the TSE and how the TSE is
stacked up. Putting an app on like Office 2000 that everyone will use will
really slow things down. In some environments Office 2000 might even be more
used than OneWorld.

We have Acrobat, Office 97 and JDE running on 2 TRMSRV's. Each TSE server is
scaled for 50 users but currenlty we have only 25 users on TSE (load
balanced). Each machine has a dual Xeon 700 MHz with 2 GB RAM. Only
OneWorld-Citrix users load Office 97 of these TSE's. Everyone else runs it
FAT. The reason we run Office 97 on TSE is that Office 2000 (especially
Outlook 2000) is not as easy to configure as Office 97 on TSE.

For printing check out the documents on the knowledge garden by doing a
search for 'Citrix' and 'Terminal Server'.. You should find a really good
document on printing.

Good luck.

I ultimately installed Office 2000 on the TSE's so that clients could export
from OW. It is a resource hog and can certainly affect OW depending on
client use. If you use Citrix, local printers can be mapped if compatible
with TSE. Otherwise set default network printer with scripts.
