Terminal Server

Using JDE on Terminal Server, users cannot printscreen like you can do on a FAT client. Once you choose Print Screen on Fat client you get a dialog box with all the printers listed that you have in you roaming profile. However, when you do this from Termial Server it sort of hangs and I get no response. Does anyone know how to work around this? I have called JDEdwards on this and have an article with 2 workarounds but I would like to know other options. Possibly include the service pack you are using.

A couple of additional questions. What are you using for TSE? Citrix? Windows TSE? On what operating system is it running? 4.0? 2000? Can you print other documents from the TSE?

Chad,
We have Windows Terminal Server with Citrix metaframe. I know the service pack of the Terminal Server (SP5), but I do not know the specs of the Citrix. The Terminal Server is 4.0, or the equivalent to running WinNT 4.0. As far as other documents, I have not been able to print. Others have but one particular user cannot.

gcotten,
If all else fails you can set a printer up for a user by;
1)making sure the user is logged off the Network completely
2)log on to users machine (as admin) and create a customer ICA
connection
3)log on to the citrix machine as the user who cannot print
(you should log on to the desktop of the WTS)
4)Now set the printer as you would on their local box
5)log off of users machine and have user log back in
6)their WTS printer should be set now (if you have load balancing and
user will log on to more than one WTS then you must do this for each WTS
that the user may be directed to for login)

Well, that is the same setup that we have. Our users are able to print so here is a couple of trouble shooting ideas.

Are all of your TSE users set up to auto create the printers from their local PC?

Have you manually installed all the printer drivers on the TSE for every printer on your network that a user will be printing to?

Other than that I am out of ideas.

Greg :

I've had a similar problem.
I was forced to delete all user profiles (except administrator's)
and when they logged in again, it was solved!
If you have a Citrix farm, you'll have to delete their profiles
on every Citrix server (unless their profiles are centrally stored)

RE: RE: Terminal Server

Jeff,

I have been working at a client for the last three months, who used a
distributed logic model. And they were constantly gettings remote call to
APPS server failures. In the end, we mapped all the BSFN locally, with the
effect of reducing the number of permitted users on the box. Since doing
this the Citrix environment has become very stable (Happy customer). We are
soon upgrading to SP15.1 and will restest the distributed logic to see if it
has become any more stable.

Jeff Hill,
You should be able to get a document from JDE showing you what to
map to the application servers (release specific - so be sure you get
the right document). It may even be available on the KG - this I am not
sure about.
Best of Luck,
