Table Conversions

We are in the process of implementing Xe (SP 13)on the AS/400 (CO also on the AS/400). I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has successfully done a table conversion from an AS/400 file into Xe. We have not yet been able to get an AS/400 file to show as a foreign table in table conversion even though we seem to have followed the procedure in JDE Document ott-99-0045.

Thank you in advance for any help!

I have done our complete financial history conversion from AS/400 World DB2 to
SQL, B7332 using table conversions. I'd imagine XE won't be too different. I
used Access to massage the AS/400 data in order to set it up in proper byte
standards, len etc. Then setup data sources and OCMs to run table conversions
directly into appropriate tables in XE or run it through the Z files. Of
course, you want to do this in a non-PROD environment, audit the data and once
you are comfortable you can move it to Production.

Hope this helps.

Judy,

I've done TCs with foreign tables from DB2 and Oracle without any problems. Could you be more specific with 'not yet been able to get an AS/400 file to show as a foreign table in table conversion'? Where is it that your not 'seeing' it?

Regards

Doug

1. the file I am trying to is a copy of F0004 called F0004JAL (tried renaming this to Judytest also)in AS/400 lib LESSARDJ.
2. I have an ODBC Data source on my pc defined as follows:
System DSN: Judytest using the Client Access ODBC driver. Data source name=Judytest. AS/400 system=its TCP/IP address (also tried the system name). Default library = LESSARDJ. Default package library = LESSARDJ. Translation = Translate. Naming convention = System naming convention.
3. I have an OW environment named INPUTS; path code = PY7333
4. I have a new DB data source under System B7333 named Judytest.
5. I have done my OCM mappings for environment INPUTS, object name DEFAULT, primary data source Judytest, and made it active.
6. Go into OMW and create a batch application, type Table conversion. Go into Start Table Conversion Design Aid. Enter: Selected environments, input = INPUTS, output = INPUTS (or PY7333, I've also tried). On the next page, Select inputs, when I use the Foreign Tables tab, I find no foreign table to convert.

Do you see any errors in the setup?

Thanks again.. Judy.
