System running very slow at certain times

Hi jdelist,

We are running B7332 service pack 10_combo on an as400 v4r4 enterprise
server and Windows Terminal Server with about 150 thin clients and about 30
fat clients. Our system performance is good but at certain times of the day
calling up certain screens gets a lot slower. For instance just opening up,
(not querying) the F0411 screen (supplier ledger enquiry) took about 2-3
seconds in the morning and in the afternoon it took minutes or just hanged,
the same happens on P4310 (Purchase orders enquiry). This occurs on both
thin and fat clients. We need to know what causes this to happen, it may
help to know where the application is called from. Any advice will be
greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Jason Attard

Jason...

I don't remember what the actual setting is as I haven't worked on a 400
in over a year, but a client of mine had the same issue and I seem to
remember it being some kind of transaction journal on the 400. Once that
was turned off...we saw these issues go away. Hope this points you into
a good direction.

Hi Jason,

could you take a look on your memory-pool #2 on the 400 whenever these
slowdowns appear. Due to my experience, it could make sense to set it to a
reasonable *FIXED size. For any reasons, with a dynamic setting in there,
interactive jobs may 'steal' your memory away....

Cheers,
