One of our clients with operations in North America is implementing EnterpriseOne in Switzerland and France. Based on my understanding a good option is –
1. Keep the number of digits for the “Object” segment in sync with North America, which is 4-digit object segment.
2. Map each internal account to French/Switzerland COA using either 3rd account number or alternate account number or cat code 23 or other category code/s. (Standard JDE method)
Based on the local requirements we are given to understand that
1. “Object” segment would be required to be of variable number of digits (from 1 for some accounts to 6 for most of the accounts).
2. Even though this goes against recommendation by JDE, there are other clients in France/Switzerland who use object segment with varying number of digits without any issue.
Potential issues might arise:
1. How to define GA AAI’s for Europe without affecting North American operatons? By the way - PeopleSoft recommends that these AAI except GLG4, should not be set up for specific companies.
2. Other issues unknown at this time.
Has anybody come across similar situation? I would appreciate if anybody could share experience or provide any inputs.
