Storing no files in the root of C:?

Is there any way, through registry, INI file, divine intervention, etc. to prevent JDE from writing any files to the root of C:? Specifically the JDESEC files. I want to be able to write this information into an alternate location. Writing to the root of C:... is well... poor programming to say the least.

I agree it is poor programming. I asked the same question to someone a few months back and was told that I must simply learn to live with it.

Needless to say I was highly peeved with the answer given!
