Software will expire...

Starting this morning... as we all logged into our Development Environment.... A JD Edwards Security screen... that says Software will expire in 7 days...

We can get past that... but then when we try to get into RDA (and other things) we get the same message... It is really becoming a pain - especially since we have been unable to determine what triggered the issue...

Those on XP get the following error message, when they try to go into RDA - and cannot proceed to development... "jdecgrt:Unable to retrieve Business View information - Application P98SEC"

I thought I had seen these messages on the list before - but did not locate them (using key words)...

Help/suggestions....

Daniel

Hello, Daniel,
I became intrigued - why don't you call to JDE help desk? They will provide
you with a new key in 10 minutes.
This is my suggestion :)

Alex.

Call up JDE and get a new authorization code !

When you get the code, each client will have to "get auth" to retrieve the new code from the deployment server back down to the client.

This comes up within 60 days of software expiration. So you have a little time left before it expires.

Phone JDE, you can do this at anytime. But you do need JDE on the phone to
provide you with the new Authorization Code for the Deployment Server. You
must also reset each FAT Client.

To Reset the Deployment Server:

1. Go to the Deployment Server and log in as JDE to the JDE Planner
Environment
2. Go to GH9052
3. Choose R98SVR
4. Click on Reset Security Server
5. Provide JDE with the Security Revision number and the Serial Number.
6. They will tell you the number of Client Licenses to enter - do so
7. They will give you the new Expiration Date - Type in as 10/31/2003
8. They will give you the new Authorization Code - Type it in all upper
case
9. Click OK. If you have any type-Os it will not return to the previous
screen.
10. Close out of the R98SVR

To Reset A Fat Client:

1. Go to the Fat Client and log in as JDE to any Environment
2. Go to GH9052
3. Choose R98SVR
4. Click on Reset Client Security
5. Click on the Get Authorization Code Icon
6. The Authorization Code and the Expiration Date will populate. Make
sure the Expiration Date matched the same Expiration Date the
Deployment Server Had - 10/31/2003
7. Click OK.
8. Close out of the R98SVR
9. Close out of JDE and have the User log back in

Dan :

Check that users have Change permissions on \\deployment\b7333\client.
Everytime an user logins there, a couple of files are updated.

Hey everybody!,

I got a whole bunch of private responses <shame on you folks for not sharing with the group>... plus, the responses on the list...

Yes - our SPC had expired... Didn't JDE used to have a pop-up that would tell us that it was about to expire? We didn't get that pop-up, thus we didn't believe we were expired...

Thanks for all the 'blistering quick' responses... mark this one as resolved...

Hello, Garcia,
How come did you get 60 days of software expiration? As far as I know it is
one year usually. However, last time I was given two years term. I know when
the time is coming because I set a note in my Outlook Calendar :)

Re: RE: Software will expire...

Alex,

We do get a renewal for one-year, however, we start getting the annoying software expiration notice 60 days before the renewal day.

Re: RE: Software will expire...

Ya know - we did call JDE...

Since 'royal WE' didn't believe that 'we' had expired.... it tooks significantly longer than ten minutes... to determine...

Thanks for everyone's help... knowing is half the battle...

Hey! How come everybody seems to get 60 days notice? I got 7. When I called to get the new codes, I also asked if there was a way to extend the notification period. I was told NO. It is a real pain to only have 7 days. I have already marked my calendar in Outlook to give me more time.

Hello, Tgore,
You're not alone - I have 7 days notice too.
I think about a little trick - when the time is not far, renew the code
before building a full package. It should work.
