Sequel 7 / Windows NT versus Oracle / Unix

When choosing set ups and systems, we are looking at
operational costs,
software costs, consulting costs,
etc., for the next few years. We want to be flexible
with our operational
consultants. We want to chose a set up in which there
are many consultants
qualified to support that set up.

Does anyone on JDEList have any thought / comments,
pro or con, to either
set up: Sequel 7 / Windows NT versus Oracle / Unix."

Your question seems to be somehow, too abrupt to get a simple answer; the first things coming into my mind are:
1-How many users are you going to have?
2-How many sites?
3-On a scale from 1 to 5, where would you rate the system reliability ... priority?
4-Similar about the speed with which you want your users to run JDEdwards?
5-finally, and that includes somehow the first 4 issues, how much is your company expecting to spend on the ERP?
The more your answers are ... big ones, the closer you are to Oracle.
Fortunately (and this makes it harder to give a simple answer, again) there are A LOT of available professionals for both options.
Some pros/cons will definitely come from Microsoft <-> Oracle different market targets:
MS got pretty well into the midrange industry, one could say SQL Server on sale;
Oracle performs excellent for the top class!

My personal opinion is, go with Oracle, if you can afford it! I played some MS SQL 6.5 at my previous employer, I know it's attractions, from almost all (administrator's, CNC's, Developer's) standpoints; I know the MS SQL7.0 is better and faster, still, I am REALLY satisfied with Oracle/UNIX on a RS6000!

Other opinions are necessarily welcome.
