Security...

Hi list.....
Is there any way that when we create a new user all the security be
automatically set to non-permission so that we can set permissions at a
later time?

OW 7.3.3.2
NT 4.0
Sql 7.0

Thanks

Put them in a temporary group that is restricted and then move them into
another (permanent) group later.

There are a few ways to do this.

1. Create a user group with no install or run access to Applications. (Mine is
called DEFAULTUSR). Add all new users to this group until their is access is
finalised, then move them into the necessary groups.

2. Create a new user template with no run or install access to Applications.
Copy this template for all new users until access is finalised, then move them
into the necessary groups.

3. Set *PUBLIC security to no run or install for Applications. That way, all new
users will not have any acces to anything until they're added to a group. Allow
run and install security for the following apps: P0082M, P00825, P0085, P00890,
P0801, P98OWSEC, P98UBE, P98305, P986116. If security isn't allowed for the
listed apps, all users, including yourself, will be permanently lock out of OW.
It's a good idea to set security for the OW administrator/Security administrator
at the user level BEFORE trying this for *PUBLIC. Time constraints have froced
me to leave this implementation until mid January.

Door #1 is the quickest and easiest.

We use the *Public approach here. We watch our access very closely so we
chose to secure everyone out and give them back what they need. Make sure
your security officier is in a group that has *ALL access to all programs
before you do a *PUBLIC *ALL will no access. If you don't do this step you
will lock yourself out of all programs. It seemed like a lot of work in
the beginning, but it has paid off. I don't have to worry about someone
getting into something they shouldn't.

Thanks and have a great day,

Hi Bill

We, like you think the Word Search is fantastic, particularly for finding
fuzzy Ship To addresses. We have modified P01012 to link directly to P01800.
I attach a powerpoint. We too would like to see it accessible from P4210 and
will be adding a link here too either from W4210E or via P0101SL.

JDE really don't push this feature enough !

cheers

Bill,

We have been using row security on the AddressType1
field in the F0101 table. It is a little bit of a pain to keep
on top of but it works well.

You need to use Row Security on the AT1 dd for address book tables, also you
may need to add these to transaction tables, depending on your requirements
