Security By Company & Business Unit

I know this has been discussed in general in the past, but I was wondering if someone could give me the specifics for setting up row security by company and business unit, i.e., which fields and tables need to be secured. My organization has multiple companies that must be secured from each other. One company can't see any information from another. Also, within each company, we need to secure business units from accessing other business units financial information.

Thank you.

Thanks for the info, but I am looking for specific table names (Fxxxx) and field names (alias?). Unfortunately, I am a manager, not a techie. I need to give my security person the actual details to set this up.

Thanks again.

Keith,
i must disagree. what you need is generalization not specification.
put users into groups and then make entries in the security workbench for each user group.
object name - *all
type - row security
data item - company (search is available for data item)
table - *all

1) from & though - enter company to grant (add-y, change-y, etc.)
2) from & though - enter company range to restrict (add-n, change-n, etc.). probably need at least two entries for this.

they say performance is hampered by row security but it works fine.

Keith,

Here is what I did for our company as it is 21000.

Table Data Item From Value Thru Value Add Change
Delete View
*ALL Company 00001 20999 N N N
N
*ALL Company 22000 99998 N N N
N

Hope this helps,

We are live on JDE Financials. We have set up row security for Companies
and Business units. Not an appreciable change in response time. The
response time is still 2-3 sec. at remote sites with VSAT, even with row
security set.
The reason for not having much change in response time with security setup
is because the OW Security table F98OWSEC is cached at the 1st login.
Unless there is a change in security this table is accessed from RAM.
