Hi List,

Does any body know if it is possible to install OneWorld with the
Russian Language ?

What about the fonts for NT and SQLServer - would these have to be in
Russian ?

Anyone any ideas ?

Yes, it's possible for OW XE. You can have Russian language on screen forms. But, you will have problems with russian fonts in reports (JD Edwards doesn't support it in PDF reports). We have wrote own application for solving this problem.

Andy,

If you just need to input Russian characters in the form fields, you can
do it. It is not required that NT or SQL Server are set to Russian
codepage, as long as no translation is performed (normally JDEdwards is
installed in this way, you can check it in ODBC DS properties). It is
better to have both client and server on Cyrillic codepage (with binary
collation), because if translation does occur for whatever reason, your
data does not get corrupted. AS/400 and Oracle are more difficult, but
still manageable.

If you need Russian translation of Forms and reports, you need to order
Russian language CD from JDEdwards. It is installed like any normal
language CD.

If you need *proper* Russian letters on reports (either with translated
field names or just data fields), it can be a difficult process. The
easiest way is to install SP16.1+, with language SAR(s), I don't have
their numbers at the moment. JDEdwards promised that this SP fixed
Cyrillic characters in Adobe. I have not seen it working yet, due to
lack of time.
*Tested* way is the following (worked ever since B733):
1. Change report font to Courier New (this must be done both for
template AND versions). This is needed because JDEdwards embeds wrong
font spacing information for all proportional fonts. We finished with
writing a program, which went to Central Objects and changed font names.
There are other ways to fight this issue, like replacing font spacing
information in report file prior to displaying it, but they require that
every report file is processed by a special application (and normal
pdf's should not be processed, they will become corrupted).
2. Do a font substitute for Courier New,0=Courier New,204 (in registry)
and whatever other fonts you use, or replace nls handler 1252 with 1251
(Russian)
3. Use Acrobat Reader 3xx, not 4 or 5 for viewing PDF files.
If you need any further information, feel free to contact me.
