Reporting tool and Crystal Report/Decision

We are evaluating reporting tools for JDE World cum 8. We have seen Cognos before. We are now looking at Crystal Report. Since we have a lean IT team, our aim is to train super users to do their report. We also do not want to write proprietary progs. So, any comments are welcome.

We're going to be doing a demo of Powerhouse on NT (Quiz in particular) and have
looked at Impromptu and some of the other Cognos
products in the past but recently budget cuts have 'changed' some of our plans.
We also have Crystal in house being used in some
specific areas but not against JDE files. Crystal has limitations with certain
types of joins and can't create subfiles but I've used it a few times
and it does have possibilities for 'Power Users'. We're looking at NT
powerhouse because we'd like to look at DB2 and other databases
simultaneously. We'll be loading the demo in the near future so I'll know more
in the days to come. A lot of users like Impromptu and the
Cognos products. Impromptu does not directly look at multiple databases
simultaneously either but seems friendlier for use in the user
community.

Besides the ongoing discussion of Crystal and Cognos, is there anyone out
there using Hyperion, interfaced to JDE? I would sure appreciate it if any
other folks using this could email me directly ([email protected]) with
your feedback and recommendations regarding Hyperion.

Are the types of joins you mentioned are serious one? I think World Writer has also limitations on joins too. So, if Crystal is not good at joining file, we will not evaluate it anymore.
