Do you have a different parent package for the server?

hi All,

JDE OneWorld B7332 SP10
Activity : Update Package Build
Enterprise Server : Sun Solaris
Deployment Server : NT
Database : Oracle 8.0.5
Menu : GH9083

Problem Facing :
We are trying to build a update package on client and
server both, however the client pack is build
sucessfully whereas the Server pack build fails.

The Report R9621 generated for server results with
Spec Build Status = Not Build.
Pack File build Status = Not Build. for all objects
Hence we cannot deploy the objects.

Focus/Objective

Our objective is to deploy the custom Business
functions application and reports to the clients.

Could you guide me as how to resolve the problem of
package build. Adding To possiblities is it ESU's,
Service packs, VC++ settings or is it Server side
setting which are not properly done.

Appriciate your prompt replys.

Thanks,

Atul Maskar
JDE Consultant

Ray,
We are on B733.2 and have similar problem when trying to build the
Server Pkgs along with the Client Pkgs. Every time thus far the Server Pkg
has failed, BUT if you go back and build the Server Pkg after the Client Pkg
it usually works here. We are still looking in to why it fails when trying
to build both at the same time. Keep the list posted if you should come
across anything, I for one would be interested.

RE: Unable to Build Update Package on B7332 SP10

One thing that we were told by JDE that seems to work is to always be sure
to delete the BUSOBJ directory from the deployment server prior to a server
package build. For some reason this directory doesn't always get deleted.
The path is JDEdwardsOneWorld\B733\Planner.

RE: Unable to Build Update Package on B7332 SP10

And also take out BusObj from the B7 directory of the client if you're
building it on a client...!

RE: Unable to Build Update Package on B7332 SP10

Tom :

While you're on the build package screen, be sure to check the "clear
destination" checkbox.
That cleans the busobj directory.

Thank you Sebastian. I continue to learn something new every day! It amazes
me that JDE didn't provide that as a solution.

That option clears the package directory.

RE: Unable to Build Update Package on B7332 SP10

Does this mean that since the BUSOBJ directory is not in the package
directory that it will not be cleared when the box is checked, and therefore
we still need to manually clear it?

I tried to use "clear destination" to delete a BusObj
directory in Xe and it did not work. Is there another
version in which this works?

RE: Unable to Build Update Package on B7332 SP10

Simply destroy any BUSOBJ directory.
That also worked to me on B7332 and B7331.

But you said that the "Clear Output Destination" would
do that.
