Re: Put Items on hold from being issued

Hi:
Is there a way to put items on hold from being issued. It's only temporary,
so I don't want to delete the item. I've looked at settings in Item Master
Information that will prevent users from issuing the part, but have not come
up with anything.
Thanks,

I tried that, and it does prevent from purchasing the item but not issuing
it. I put the lot on hold and set up security for that screen so that users
can't change it, and this prevents issuing if the processing option # 13 on
Issues is blank.
Thanks for your effort,

Re: Put Items on hold from being issued

What we usually do is put additional wording in the part description such
as "inactive part" our stores staff and ordering staff are trained in that
if this part is shown on the list that no action must be taken against this
part or item. This will work if the quantity of parts are few in total.

Re: Put Items on hold from being issued

although you do not use lot processing you can use the lot status code for
this purpose.
This is a user defined code and can be used

Hello,

Don't know if this helps but we set the item flash message flag on obselete products. This highlights items on search and sales order entry screens. F13 shows why the item is highlighted on search screens. This is set on item master screen bottom right hand corner. UDC can be set up to attach any message. This solved the problems for us.

RE: Put Items on hold from being issued

I have also used an "OBS" G/L class code for the item/branch (and location
record, if necessary). This OBS G/L class code has NO AAI's associated with
it in the inventory adjustment AAI table. So if the user tries to enter a
transaction against the obsolete item number, they get an AAI error.

This is good to use in conjunction with a flash message, or any number of
other suggestions made. The flash message is a good informational way to
provide a clue as to what's going on. The "OBS" G/L class code will
actually stop the transaction from happening.
