If you need that for sales and purchase and if you are using OW, u can =
use flexible accounting to fix dynamicaly the cost center or use the =
revenue preferences to set the cost center.=20
For some account like inventory it's common to have only one cost center =
which is set in the AAI

Feel comfy to ask me any further question directly :)

Subject: Cost centers and Branch Plant (warehouses).

Hello List,=20
I need your advice on the following topic :=20

a.. we have 5 physical warehouses, Branch Plant in JDE (for example =
Raw Material, WIP, Finished Goods, Workshop 1, Workshop 2).=20
b.. we need to post accounting journal entries on one single cost =
centers, call it CC1 for example.=20
What is your best advice to achieve this :=20
a.. Solution one : set up all AAI to force JDE into the CC1 cost =
center ?=20
b.. Solution two : create 5 Cost Centers into JDE, using the level =
of detail to aggregate in inquiries, reports (and if yes, how ?) ?=20
c.. Other Solutions ?=20

Our version is OW, Xe, 7.333.=20

Many thanks in advance.=20
Best regards.=20

RE: Cost centers and Branch Plant (warehouses).

Didn't quite catch that. AAIs are set up by co/doc type/item's GL class
codes. Therefore, you can set up just one AAI per doc type/co/ combination,
with one bu coded into the AAI (say: AAI 4122 for co 00001, doc type IA, bu
CC1, object and subsidiary as per your requirements). All transactions for
all br/plants for this company and co type will go to the specific bu (CC1),
irrelevant of the br/plant used.

You may want to consider future additions to the warehouses list;
investigate the client's financial/distribution reporting requirements as
well.

JDE also gives you an opportunity to use the PROJECT BU (set up for every
single br/plant bu). ANother possibility is flex accounting - especially
useful for complex sales / revenue reporting.

thnx

RE: Cost centers and Branch Plant (warehouses).

Use as many cost centers as you want, one for each warehouse. Point your
accounting for all cost centers to your accounting cost center by setting
the Project Number field in each Business Unit Master to your accounting
cost center. Sales Update and other programs will read the AAIs and if the
cost center is blank in the AAI, it will use the cost center on the
transaction. But it checks the project number in the transaction cost
center and if it is nonblank it uses that cost center.

Cool, eh?

RE: Cost centers and Branch Plant (warehouses).

We had the same situation and we used the AAI to create the JE into the cost
center we wanted. Much easier than trying to roll up all the different
accounts. That is if you want all the figures in one cost center anyway.
Why go through the bother of posting to other cost centers if you are always
going to need them rolled up. If you see no need to ever have the total
broken down then go with option one. If you ever need the detail into other
cost centers you can always change the AAI later. That's the beauty of JDE.
You are not locked into solution one permanently.

RE: Cost centers and Branch Plant (warehouses).

We have several warehouses, like you. So we enter the warehouse code in
Branch Plant on the issues screen, for example. If I am in WH1 warehouse, I
enter WH1. The AAI is set up by transaction type, so all the issues, for
example, call the same AAI so they all get charged in GL to the same
business unit/object/sub. On the expense side, the business unit in the
"account number" field on the transaction line can be whatever. Your
situation looks similar.
