The help discusses the way of getting from the delimited file into F0902Z1
is to import the file in to an F0902Z1 table in an Access database (i.e.
the one on the client path code) using Access import utility. Obviously
ensure that OCM point to the F0902Z1 table in OneWorld Local.

I did get that suggestion a couple times -- to use Access to import the data into the F0902Z1 file. I couldn't figure it out, though. I used Windows Explorer, went to b7/dv7333/data and double-clicked jdeb7 to start Access 2000. Message pops up while Access is opening that I "can't make changes to the database objects because the database was created in an earlier version of Access." Maybe that's a problem and maybe its not, I don't really want to change the database, I just want to import data. When the database opens I only see a few files in the Tables view, including F0004, F0005, F0082 etc. But then I can't figure out how to get the F0902Z1 table to show in the Tables view. I notice that a lot of the menu selections are phantomed out including get external data. I don't know what to use to get the other tables to show up. How do I get the other tables to show up in this view, so that I can use Access to import the data this way?

Hi, You need to go to jdeb7.mbd and click insert on the menu bar. Choose
insert Table and then Design View. Under Field Name, type the name you found
in the UTB (F0902Z2 would be GCDTA) in all caps. Lengthen the field size if
necessary. The maximum length for a field in access 97 is 255 characters.
Click Save. Name you table. Choose No when prompted to define a primary key.
Close Design View. Your table should now be seen. Terry

Ian,

Depending on the version of Access you are using, you may not be able to modify the jde database. My suggestion is to:

1. Create a new "blank" database by doing a file new. Once you have a new database you want to perform a
2. File:Get External Data:Link Tables,
3. Go down to where it says Files of type and make it an ODBC Databases and select this
4. If you are running WinNT on the client, go to the machine data source tab and find the correct data source. On my machine it is Business Data - Prod. Hit Ok once you've found the correct data source.
5. Scroll through the list and find the files you want to link to.
6. Select by hightlighting the files you need and Ok out.

This will establish an ODBC link to whatever files you established and you will be able to run queries against them including updates and inserts. Be careful as you will be able to open the table and any edits/deletes you do will be on a live system and will be permanent.

Budget Upload process very clearly. Ask for 'OneWorld PC Budget Uploads', =
'OneWorld PC Journal Entry Uploads', 'Converting Jdeb7.mdb in Microsoft =
Access' & 'ODBC Settings for PC Uploads'. We called on this severl months =
ago and JDE emailed them to us. I am sorry to say that these papers do not =

If you use Access2000 you will have to 'upgrade' all the OneWorld jdeb7
databases - it takes ages for stand-alone but a few minutes for a normal
pathcode database and does not affect OneWorld running after it is upgraded.

F0902Z1 is not in this database by default - use 'table copy' to copy it
from its usual location to here first (empty) and then continue. The help on
GL/Budgeting/other methods is quite useful.

Malcolm,

This message is fairly common/ What this means is that you are adding an OCM
for a table that does not current exist in your local access database for
that particular pathcode on your workstation. To confirm this go into
C:\B7\PY7333\Data and open the jdeb7.mdb. You will notice that there is no
F0902Z2 as of yet since you have not created it.

You now have two choices. You can add the OCM which gives you a soft warning
and click ok twice to continue. When you are adding the OCM OneWorld checked
the new 'Path' to see whether that table exists in the new location that you
are pointing to. You can now create the excel file for the PC budget upload
and then create the F0902Z2 in the C:\B7\PY7333\Data\jdeb7.mdb.

OR

Do it the other way. Make sure the F0902Z2 exists in the
C:\B7\PY7333\Data\jdeb7.mdb before you add the OCM. This way you won't
receive the warningwhen you add the OCM.

You must ensure that your custom environment is associated with a
path code. If it is not, the software will not be able to find your
check-in location or your central object tables. A path code tells
OneWorld where to find the specifications it needs to run its
applications and where the check-in location is located on the system.
When creating, modifying or deleting a path code you should make
sure services are stopped or you could corrupt specs. The only way to
get a path code onto the enterprise server is by manually making a copy.
