Question about output Management

We are currently deveopping a vertical product for a specific Industry
within JD Edwards OneWorld XE. We have therefore customized the sales order
processing functionnality of the base product to add additional attributes
(tag-along tables) to the sales order line for example. We have also enhance
the the order information to carry more specific industry information.

We need to be able to produce a customized invoice (layout format) therefore
can not use the standard PDF invoice output format of JD Edwards OneWorld
expecially that we have to access tables that do not exist in the base
product. Our approach
at this point in time is to customize R42565 to create a generic invoice
format that would carry all the necessary attributes (more than less). Then
use a third party output management tool to produce the final invoice format
(can vary from customer to customer therefore needs a profile to define the
invoice requirement (format, number of copies, mode of transmission (Fax,
E-Mail, EDI..etc). The idea is to play with the various formats outside of
JD Edwards OneWorld. In this context what would be the most appropriate
output management tool (those that are true partner with JD Edwards) to use.

There is various tools which can be suitable for your needs but i think
the idea of managing layout out OW is not a good idea as far as the criteria
you give in example can be manage in the databases using CIF file.

In addition as far as i know, the tools of OW can produce various outpout
format as line printer (which is actually use by many third party tools
as fax server), CSV (can be used for EDI or email)...

Serge,

Did you upgrade to Xe from an earlier release? I'm asking because we have
made similar customizations: added 2 tag files (1 for the header - F604201
and 1 for the detail - F604211), HEAVILY customized the R42565 (invoice
print), as well as many other modifications to a variety of objects and I
wanted to know how your upgrade went.

FYI, we use Optio for printing our forms. I'm not sure I would recommend it
though ... it's not really that user friendly, you need to have at least
some programming background, running a UBE locally or on the server results
in slight changes in the PDF's which can create problems, etc.

Re: RE: Question about output Management

Our taget is to complete the code retrofit this week. Overall i would say the code retrofit itselt might have been more ugly that it was. We do keep complete documentation and printout of all customization we are doing which has help us a lot in the process since for example one the core object (P4210) for example was not converted from OneWorld 7.3.3.1 to XE as it should have been. Therefore we were forced to re-introduce the customized code manually.
We have spent about 3 weeks so far in the code-retrofit and unit testing. The next step for us to define the prototype (CRP) and production environment within XE next week and start the integrated tests. At this point in time we do not foresee major issues but certainly have certain concerns about some the pre-requisite ESU we may have to implement and their impact on the customized code.

Hello there,

We use and distribute FormScape to JDE clients and other ERP Vendors.

FormScape is JDE certified with OneWorld and World.

In FormScape 2.3 ( FormScape's latest offering ) there is a JDE OneWorld
Module that plugs
into the FormScape Server which reads PDF files.

We have implemented the FormScape OneWorld Module at a client
site 4 weeks ago running AS400, OneWorld B7332 SP11.3 and the
FormScape OneWorld Module really works like a charm.
We also run it here in the office on NT with great success.

And FormScape is really user friendly and one does not have to
be a programmer to develop your forms and output
management solutions.

For More info Look at www.formscape.com
