Question!!!!

If I create a completely new environment (Central Objects, Business Data,
Control Tables and Versions) will I be able to apply ESUs, etc. to it?

Will I be able to upgrade it to a newer OW release if I don't have it in the
plan?

Please let me know what my limitations are regarding custom, complete
environments!!!

Thanks,
James

James-

According to JDE (as of B7332), custom environments are not upgradeable. JD
Edwards has a document I believe is on KG that is a condensed set of
instructions to create a custom environment.

As for applying ESUs, the fly in the ointment is the fact that ESUs get
loaded using the planner environment, which does not automatically get its
data source, OCM tables, etc updated to recognize the new environment. You
would have to put them in manually. Alternatively you could use the custom
environment as a destination for approved upgrades/mods in a JDE standard
environment.

This much I can tell you but there may be more gotchas. Good Luck!

Regards,
David

If you create a new enviroment with a new path code make sure you put it in the
plan or you will not be able to do upgrades to the environment. We didn't add
our first environment to the planner and it took us awhile to straighten it out.
Once the pathcode is created then you can add ESU's etc.

It sounds like you're creating a new path code in which case the answer to ESU question is yes. Yes you will need to create a custom plan.

In regards to upgrading my custom OneWorld environments with ESUs.... Will
it matter that I have updated my local .msd PLANNER and Deployment databases
with my new environment information.

Shouldn't this allow me to "see" my new environments when I log into the
PLANNER environment?

Please advise!

Thanks,
James
