Has anyone loaded SP 13.1 on Oneworld B73.3.2?
Anyone experiencing an trouble loading SP 13.1 (the XE service pack) on
OneWorld B73.3.2?

Site is an AS/400 V4R4 with COs on the 400

I had a heck of a time getting it on and once on, ran into enough issues that
I took it off and put on SP11.3.

RE: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues

We are on OneWorld B73.3.2 SP 11.1. I previously tried to install SP13.0 but
quickly rolled back to SP11.1 . If you are on B73.3.2 then installing SP13
will basically give you a OneWorld Xe interface which essentially means that
the splash screen is different. While this is not a technical change this
really confuses users so be prepared to explain that you did not upgrade to
Xe. I plan to attempt to install SP 13.1 this week so I should have a better
idea by Friday. I choose this week because SP 13.2 also comes out this week
(supposedly) so I have some flexibility in what problems I would like
end-users to experience.

In defence of SP 13.1 there are some really neat options (check the JDE
knowledge garden). The main features relate to ESU management. Another neat
feature is an updated status bar that lets you know what environment you're
logged into. Also the OneWorld Server Administration Work Bench actually
works. With all these features why then did I take out SP 13.0? Well it has
to do with *ALL security and disappearing menus - users were not impressed
with this feature. We weren't live at the time so the consequences were
minor.

Re: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues

I installed SP13.1 onto B733.2 last Friday. I did not have any issues. The
only 'gotcha' is that to update the foundation, I had to re-compress the
foundation for the client packages. If you do not re-compress the client
packages, the foundation (ie, x:\b7\pathcode\system \bin32 \include,
etc.) does not get updated with the new service pack material. I haven't
had any issues outside of that. (we are NT4/SQL 7). What issues did you
experience with the service pack?

Re: [Re: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues ]

SP install on the deployment server threw Application error until I completely
deleted the \system folder and let it lay a complete 13.1 down in it's place.

R98403 processing option "live or proof mode" throws a OneWorld error in it's
own message box (no I'm not kidding the SP11.3 boxes don't do this).

RE: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues

Have you tested your check-in check -out process? We are on B73.3.1 SP 7.1
OS/400 enterprise server. Upon applying SP 13.1, we were unable to check in
objects. SP 13.1 looks for a table (F00166) which is not a valid table in
Cume 1 or 2. It is a valid table in XE. Let me know if this is a problem for
you also.

Re: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues

SP13.1 on B733.2 NT/Sql 7. We have not experienced any problems with the
check-in/out process since the service pack install. I updated from SP11, so
I don't know if that has anything to do with it....

RE: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues

Neither am I. I'm on B7332 NT/SQL. I heard the issues are on AS/400.

I did have a printing issue on Postscript printing where my files expanded
from 10k to 177k with SP13.1

Re: [RE: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues ]

Go to the KG and search on "13.1" (in double quotes).

You'll find that there are several SARs that have been created since October
addressing issues with 13.1 on < XE releases.

RE: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues

This is a known issue. You probably should call JDE, they have a SAR for
B73.3.1 and an ESU for B73.3.2.

RE: [RE: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues ]

We were going to install service pack 13.1 tomorrow but have opted to go to
11.3 instead. Having read about the problems that everyone is having
resulting in them going back to 11.3 is one reason. The clincher for me was
when I went to the Knowledge Garden to find the so called fixes, all I could
find were reported problems with no solutions. JDE says that they could
reproduce these errors but haven't come up with an ESU to fix them. Why
would I want to install a service pack that breaks things without a fix to
correct them? Perhaps 13.2 will correct these problems, but I cannot afford
to have broken applications until they decide to make corrections.

By the way, I was assured by the person that took my order for SP 11.3 that
there were no reported problems with SP 13.1. He proceeded to tell me that
whatever I read in this JDE list is questionable. I don't know, but I would
trust what I hear in this list more than anything told to me by JDE.

I really didn't want to be reading this today - but I did! Guess what we're doing today?

I was supplied a list of PTFs for the AS400 which supposedly fixes some of the bugs encountered with SP 13.1. Did you apply any PTFs?

Re: RE: [RE: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues ]

Sanju,
We are attempting a 13.3 install over B7332 and encountering a number of
problems. JDE has provided us with only one IBM PTF to load. Can you
respond with the list you received and its source? Thanks very Much.

Re: RE: [RE: SP13.1 on B73.3.2 issues ]

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in replying. These are the ones we were asked to apply:

SF62631
SF62997
SF64145
SF64428
SF64109

However, one of the above PTFs had about 20 pre-requisite ones which I don't have a list of! I'll try and get a list of these soon.

Our Technical Manager at JDE supplied the list after speaking to the Denver.

I'm not an AS400 person but I believe most / if not all of these PTFs related to AS400 Journaling?

Good luck!
