Nedd Advice for a new Business Activity

Hi to All.

We are users of OneWorld XE since 2003, we are running 3 Companies and 4 Branches, using Financials, Distribution, Manufacturing and Configurator.

Our main business is the manufacturing and sales of door, wall and roof panels.

Now our managers told us that they want to begin a new activity a bit different than the above.

The new business consists in the purchase of old machines, repair and enhance them (some internal work and some subcontracted, also new components added), and the the sales of this machine.

What I'm asking you is the advice of which module is best suited for this:

A. Inventory + Work Orders + Sales + Purchasing

B. Service Billing

C. Contract Billing

D. Job Costs + Service Billing

The other requirements is that when we buy the machine, we still do not known the final customer, also, we do not know the needed work or pieces and jobs to be done.

basically what we need is a way to purchase an item (machine)

purchase components and associate them to this machine

subcontract some works (enter Account payable invoices directly or by purchase order), and associate to this machine

enter some jobs information (with our without Work Order, perhaps direct General Ledger entry), and associate with this machine

Then sum up this, put a profit margin and generate a sales order and an invoice.

and at last, we need to be able to see all the transactions related with this machine, and a GL Profit / Loss for this machine

The number of transactions will be low for this activity, perhaps up to 20 a year
