Multiple job queues - AS400

Hi!

We would like certain groups of OneWorld users to use a specific job queue on the AS400. It doesn't sound too difficult - I'm sure lots of people out there are doing it but I'm a little confused.

So far, I've create 5 job queues on the AS400 (JDEFIN, JDEDIS, JDEPAY etc.). In addition, I've created 5 userids based on JDE user and associated them with one of the newly created jobqueue eg. userid JDEFIN has a default jobqueue JDEFIN.

Within OneWorld, I've changed the sign on security for a user from JDE to JDExxx. When submitting jobs, they still default to QB7332. I logged a call with JDE and they've said you can change this in the jde.ini file. I deleted the job queue entry in the ini file but then the jobs started running in QBATCH! HELP!

Response line are saying we need to create or change all our versions and specify a job queue there? They also mentioned that we may be able to make workstation specific changes? Which we probably couldn't do because we're using Citrix Servers for access to OneWorld.

Any ideas anyone?

I believe your problem may have to do w/ jobd. I don't know how you have
yours set up but if an individual usrprf had it's own jobd then w/i that
jobd you need to put the actual job queue in that description.

I did this before and certain users point to qacct; qsales (all single
threaded) jobq and most others to qbatch.

Sanjeev,

Our setup is almost identical to yours, and the way we went about this was
by assigning the JOBQ at the version level. The users in our company have
several job functions, so we set it up where their CSMS jobs would submit
to JDECSMS, while their Integrity reports would submit to INTEGRITY. Since
you are on Citrix (as we are, as well), I'm thinking this may be the only
apprach for you. Managing multiple users' INI files would be something of a
nightmare.

We use a wide range of job queues for our different users. What we do is to
create the job queues on the AS400 and add them on the OW side. Specific
versions/reports are then assigned to the specific job queue. If you can
use this method you cut out all the ini and other baulderdash.

Our company is also doing the setting similar to your setup, and it's
working fine. doesn't seems to me as if your setup is incorrect, unless
maybe the configuration is missing or wrong. rather than guessing what is
missing, below i've described all step that we do to create the job queue:-
To configure multi-q, follow as below
- create out q & job q
- create jobd
- create user profile
- enable security workshop
- create ow id
1) outq
- go to a98owmnu, choose 7
- choose option 8
2) wrkjobd then create the job d
- check wrkjobq
- library can be qgpl
3) create user profile, specify jobd and lib there
- group profile is oneworld
- owner is *grpprf (not *usrprf)
4) change the oneworld security
- disable UBEPrintQueue in the JDE.ini

Be noted that version (jde ow version detail lets you choose job q as well)
the overwrite user profile and ini setting and ini setting will overwrite
the user profile. you may e-mail me if still uncertainty. Also, OneWorld
System Based Security provides User Id to System Id mapping. No user
profiles is created on AS400, shielding users from access the DB2 database
via directly logon. hope can helps you.

Sanjeev_Harrish,
You will need to Add a copy of the versions and change the queue
that this job is running in. Or it may be possible to change the queue
setting of the version without having to do an Add....depends on which
version of OW you are using....it's best to set the queues on the
version that way it will always run in the correct queue regardless of
who runs it (which can be very important for many financial reports that
MUST be run in a single threaded queue).

Re: RE: Multiple job queues - AS400

Thanks to all for replying. I think we've established now that we are going to have to re-visit all of our versions to make changes... OUCH!
