Moving ES to another \"box\"

JDE List,

I am wanting to move my ES from one NT box to another NT box with more DASD
and more processing power. I have searched the KG for a document regarding
this process and haven't found one. My understanding is that there is one I
just couldn't find it.

Can someone clue me in as to where the document is or can someone provide me
with the document?

Also, any gotchas or caviats regarding this process would be great!

I'm no NT guru (prefer UNIX myself) but our NT guys have moved boxes from
one config to another using some info from Microsofty. Apparently you just
do a backup->restore and then some reg hacks to deal with the new hardware.
Works like a champ. This way you wouldn't need to change anything in OW
(basically you are taking your new rockin box and rename it to your current
ES). Sounds like a nice way to push off some work to me. (as long as you
aren't the NT admin). Good luck.

Is this box your PDC? Does this box have your databases on it as well?

The following will only work on a member server, a BDC, and a Windows 2000 Server/Advance server.

All you have to do is bring up your new box (name it whatever you like) install all of your prerequisites install JDE as you normally would. (So you will get all of your registry entries) After you get the box up copy your B733* folder from the old box over to the new box. Remove the old box from the NT domain, rename the new box to what the old one was and rejoin the domain.
