Do we have to move to One World. The application that
we have now is very stable
and we would not want to upset the apple cart. Will JDE
still support World?

I think that JD Edwards will certainly continue to Support the World Customers if it is in their best interest. I believe currently that support has been extended to 2002 ? I may not be correct with that date - but I know that it always raises a cheer at Focus when they extend World support.

Eventually, however, the World customers will whither away - naturally this may take some time - but eventually this will happen. When there are, say, 5 customers left - I'm pretty sure they won't be supported !!!!

Of course, upsetting the applecart is one thing - but this also suggests that your company is going through very slow growth and is not looking at increasing either functionality of the ERP system or interoperability with either collabrative solutions or with outside resources. Sometimes, this is good - the number of companies still running their businesses on PDP-11's, Windows 3.11 and DOS is certainly shrinking, but is certainly still there. There is, however, something to be said for those companies who take leaps-of-faith.

Just an opinion - please don't flame me !!

Worldsoftware will be supported at least until Feb 2005 (announced at Focus
2000)

We are wrestling with the same issue of when to move from World to OneWorld
(would appreciate your thoughts).

I am not sure of exactly what issues you are grappling with, but I made a
presentation with regards to this subject for a Users' Group last month. My
research (performed primarily through the Knowledge Garden) addresses some
of the issues from a "big picture". I do not touch any of the technical
issues (I leave that to those better equipped to do so), but this might
give you an overview. I can send you the presentation and my research notes
if you'd like; just let me know.

Thanks Robert,

I'd appreciate seeing your presentation and notes (and don't worry about
the technical side - I try to avoid that, if I can!!).
