Wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts/ideas/experience on a mobile application that sales reps in the field could use to take sales orders and send them into the office.
At the present time, our sales reps are equipped with a Motorola MC70 PDA. On this device, there is an application which allows them to view their customer list, take orders by scanning bar codes, and view order status information such as whether the order has shipped or cancelled. Sales order data is communicated cellularly into the corporate office, where the data is stored in a SQL server database. This data is then extracted and moved into the JDE 47 files (F47011 and F47012) so that the orders can be created in F4201/F4211.
There is currently nothing wrong with this system. However, the user community at my organziation wants to be able to write/submit orders on a tablet (Android or iPad). Is anyone aware of anything out in the marketplace that would fit this bill, or do you think that this would be something that would have to be developed in-house?
