Mixed Mode Costing

Since 9.0 U2 JDE supports the mixed-mode costing that allows rollup 02 cost method P items to 07 cost method M item. What I like to ask what's the really benefits doing so in practice ? Only because let the P items are with 02 cost method so the inventory cost is more close to actual cost on hand ?
