I did evaluate and used MIMIX (Lake View) and HA Suite (DataMirror) in my
previous job. Both products worked very well with JDE. I recommended MIMIX.
I'm not sure what you meant with report development on the MIMIX box? Do
you mean running report on the Target box? the answer is Yes. We were
successfully off load the Local (production) box of all long time running
jobs and all scheduled backup into the Target box.
If you meant an actual development on the Target box, the answer is No. You
should not open the Target box for a development.

Thank you for your input. Regarding the Target box, we were thinking about having the users who create reports that are not put into production develop and run their reports on the Target box. Would this not be a wise idea??
Running reports on the Target system will cause problems with Mimix. One of the files that needs to be replicated is SVM7333/F986110. Running jobs on both AS/400s will cause this file to fall out of sync. There should be nothing running on the target system except Mimix. If you need more detail on the Mimix configuration for Xe please let me know.
I do not believe creating new reports on the Target box is a good idea.
Actually the Target box should be off limit of development. Remember there
is a lot of synchronisation of database between Local and Target boxes,
creating any new objects in Target not in Local is not a wise idea for the
sake of disaster recovery.
Also, I would like to clarify what I said in my prior email about running
long running jobs on the Target box. There is a timing factor involve and
normally these reports are not report new transactions.
Hope that will help, call me if you would like to clarify how to maximize
the benefit of the Target box.
