Level break footer aggregate from the a non-parent section

I'm working on somebody else's custom ube.

The report has a driver section w/multiple level break footers.
W/in the LBFs is an aggregate of a column that is NOT in the parent section.
This is being aggregated from a conditional section, based on a diff bsvw than the parent.
The control in the conditional is not a global RV.

I've never seen an aggregate not based on a parent.
I've tried adding an aggregate onto the footer,
but the non-parent control isn't available to me.
The properties of the non-parent-aggregate don't help in figuring out how this is done.

How do you create an LBF aggregate based on a control in a diff section?

Gene,

Is the aggregate you describe from an RV in the detail section?

Wendell

Nope.
The RV that is being aggregated is NOT in the driver/detail section.

Gene,

I haven't looked at this in years - I do all my totalling "manually" as I have more control over the processes. However, I think I remember dragging a RV from one section into the LBF, which created the aggregate RV and then completing some properties.

I have absolutely no idea whether this is the way your particular circumstances were created, but it is a direction to in which to look.

All the best for a solution.

Have you checked the hidden RVs of the driver section too (if there is any at all)?

Gene,

If you post the Event Rules for the report it may be easier to offer some helpful suggestions.

Thanks,
Matt

There are no hidden controls in the driver section that have the same description.
Further, when hovering over the aggregate, both the aggregate and the non-parent-driver-section-control
turn red to show that they are related.

I've run into this situation AGAIN, this time w/a vanilla R09421.

I'm TRYING to add LBF sections w/in the driver.
The driver section is based on V0901MM.

Existing LBF on obj acct has aggregates that are based on a conditional section (JE Detail).
Further the properties of the driver's LBF do not reference the bsvw.
If I add a lbf section, the properties refer to the bsvw.

If I create the aggregate in the JE Detail and cut it,
or copy it, it loses the reference.

Grrrrr.

Gene,

Firstly, how did you go with messing around w/click, drag, drop in your original problem?

Secondly, though I'm not certain I follow all the detail of your current situation, can you use a variable (eg. VA rpt_mnAggregate) to hold the aggregate and populate/calculate it in the JE Detail section and set a RV equal to it in your new lbf section?

Cut/paste and copy/paste between sections loses the fact that it's an aggregate.

Yes, I'll use the suggested work around.

I'm just baffled at how the design tool did this to begin with.
I'll just add this to the list of things I don't understand.....
