Length of Server Name

I am at a site where, due to company standards, the server names are 13 characters. I know that JDE recommends 10 character names because of the server map data source max characters is 29. I would like to shorten the server map data source name to: OURSERVERNAME - B7333 SVM. Does anyone see any potential pitfalls to doing this?

We just installed XE and we had to do that identical thing to get our
application server to work properly. The one thing we did notice is that
you can not use the generate server map option under machine
identification, you will have to manually enter.

I've done that before and haven't found any problem at all.
I was forced to use "ENTERPRISEX - Xe Server Map" instead of
"ENTERPRISEX - B7333 Server Map" because of the 29 character limit.

Re: RE: Length of Server Name

Dave,

Thanks for the quick reply. We have actually already completed the installation workbench and I just ran porttest. It failed. I checked the installation plan and it shows the Enterprise Server Map Date Source as OURSERVERNAME - B7333 Server Map, which is too long. Also, I checked Oracle and the SVM733 tables did not get created. I take it this was caused by using the generate server map option? Is the fix to delete this from the plan, re-enter manually and then rerun the plan?
